14 Tips to Stand Firm In Faith When You’re Tired!
God's word doesn't lie. Here are steps & scriptures to help you stand strong in faith when you're weary and need rest. It's time to have complete faith in God!
To “stand firm” means to remain unwavering in your faith despite any obstacles or emotions you may face. Life’s challenges and the enemy’s attacks may try to knock you down, but it’s crucial to stand firm in your beliefs. Take heart, because God is working powerfully in your situation right now, so don’t give in to doubt.
Understanding Our Human Nature
As humans, we are often subject to changing moods and emotions that can cause us to shift our beliefs and behaviors in an instant. However, God knew that we would be prone to these fluctuations when He gave us emotions and hormones. He understands our strengths and weaknesses, and Jesus himself experienced the same emotional struggles that we face. The Bible reminds us that Jesus is not only our savior but also a compassionate high priest who empathizes with our weaknesses and has been tempted in every way, just as we are, yet without sin. (Hebrews 4:15)
During times of emotional turmoil, the Bible serves as firm foundation of truth. It provides us with unchanging promises that God will never break and instructions for righteous living, so we can know what to do in difficult times. The Bible reassures us that “God is not a man who would lie or change His mind. Has He spoken and not acted? Has He promised and not fulfilled it?” (Numbers 23:19)
Feeling Overwhelmed or Discouraged
If you are feeling scared, anxious, confused, or tired of waiting for God to act, know that you are not alone. It’s essential to read the following scriptures, reflect on them in your journal, and listen to Bible verse meditations to allow these scriptures to sink into your mind and spirit. Do not pay attention to your mood at the moment; keep feeding yourself the Word, and the dark cloud will pass if you keep focusing on the light!
Remember, “Anyone who believes in Him will never be put to shame” (Romans 10:11).
Therefore, let us not grow weary in doing good, for at the proper time, we will reap a harvest if we do not give up (Galatians 6:9). Your labor is not in vain.

You are the God of miracles, breakthroughs, and the impossible. I lay my burdens at your feet, and I surrender my life, heart, and situation into your trustworthy hands. 14 Tips to Stand Firm in God Completely:
These 14 tips, based on the concept of standing firm in scripture, can teach you how to strengthen your faith in God during difficult times. God promises that those who delight in Him shall receive the desires of their heart. So, continue to delight in Him, my beautiful friend, and I pray that you remain strong in your current battle.
1. Read the Bible
Read the Bible to strengthen your faith in God. Bold stories of faith will inspire you to persevere in tough times. As Romans 10:17 says, ‘faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.’
2. You need to believe.
Standing firm in faith requires both faith and a deep belief in what the Bible says. As Hebrews 11:6 states, “And without faith, it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.”
It’s important to recognize that spiritual battles often begin in our minds. The enemy may try to plant seeds of doubt, bitterness, jealousy, and fear just when we are making the most progress. Therefore, when spiritual attacks come, we must stand firm on the Word of God (Bible). The enemy may try to deceive us with lies, but the Bible will always speak the truth. Ultimately, the Word of God will renew our minds, help us to live in the spirit, wait patiently, and remain sober-minded.
"In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one;" Ephesians 6:16
3. Submit To God’s Plan.
On your faith journey, there will be moments when it feels like God is mean or has forsaken you. You may question His love for you or try to take matters into your own hands because you don’t trust Him.
The Managerial Role of God in Our Lives
God is like a well-skilled manager at your job. At a job, we have to trust the manager to do the best for the company even when we don’t like their decisions. The truth is, sometimes only the manager can see all the problems within the company, the workers, and finance department. They aren’t able to tell you everything because it’s important to protect everyone’s privacy, you might not understand, and it would overwhelm you because it isn’t your role to manage. This is what our walk with God needs to look like too. We must submit to His leadership even when we can’t see all the details and we want things to go our own way!
Ultimately, we might not understand why God is doing things, but we must trust that He is strategically moving chess pieces to bring the Kingdom of God to earth. There have been times I wanted to date someone that God clearly gave me a warning dream about. I’ve felt like there would be no end to the waiting. I wanted to ignore God’s warning because I felt He was being unfair and withholding romance from me. I was mad at God and didn’t trust that He was guiding me. So, I ignored a warning dream and quickly realized the man was a womanizer! How selfish, rebellious, and ungrateful was I in those moments? VERY! I was willing to disobey God because of one thing I don’t have and ignore the countless other blessings in my life!
Trusting God’s Goodness in the Midst of Trials
The same logic applies even if your situation is declining health, a broken marriage, an unsaved household, lack of finances, etc. The truth is, God never forsakes you, and His plan doesn’t change for you because it feels difficult. He withholds no good thing from us, and we have to trust Him even when it doesn’t feel like He is being good to us. Our blessings are according to His timing and His plan for things to happen, not ours. “…no good thing does He withhold from those whose walk is blameless.” Psalm 84:11
”Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6
4. Remove Doubt
You will need to ask God to remove doubt, so that you can stand fast in the faith. Doubt will cause you to be unbalanced and indecisive. Do not settle for a wavering mind, God has more for you. “And Jesus answered them, “Have faith in God. Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” Mark 11:22-24
5. Seek Wisdom
Ask God for His wisdom and do not try to make things happen in your own strength. His gift of wisdom will help you to see what His plan is in the situation, because God doesn’t always do things when or how we want.
“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.” James 1:5-8
Also, surround yourself with mentors, intercessors, and wise counsel. You will need people to help pray for you and encourage you as you wait on the Lord. People who do it alone tend to get burnt out, fall prey to temptations, and become negative. You can talk to me for 20 minutes (free) if you need prayer and quick encouragement in the faith.
6. Embrace Your Authority In Christ
Remember, you are not helpless. You have a powerful God who is working everything out for the good of His children. Do not fall into the trap of victim mentality when the enemy attacks an area of your life. I have experienced this myself and wanted to give up on Christianity, but that is exactly what the enemy wants you to do – to think you are powerless and that God is inactive.
You are powerful and capable of defeating any spiritual attack. Jesus said, “Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you.” (Luke 10:19 ESV)
God has given you everything you need to resist temptation and remain pure. The Bible reminds us that “No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.” (1 Corinthians 10:13)
In addition, I share my personal experience of engaging in spiritual warfare and four dreams in which God showed me how to defeat evil spirits.
7. Receive God’s Strength
God will give us the strength to keep believing if we read the word and call on him through prayer. “I can do all things through him who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13
8. Be Gentle and Kind
You can’t stand firm in faith and be cruel to people. Unkind actions and words actually help to promote the will of Satan. So PLEASE continue obeying God’s commandment to love your neighbor as yourself. “So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.” 1 Corinthians 13:13
“Only let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving side by side for the faith of the gospel…” Philippians 1:27
9. Practice Gratitude
If you focus on what you don’t have you will miss out on all the wonderful things that God has placed in your life. Make it a point to evaluate all the HARD situations God has delivered you from in the past (List them all out). Also, seek to hear the testimonies of others. Fill your spirit with the BEAUTIFUL works of the Lord and it will help you to remember that the God you’re waiting on is GOOD.
10. Don’t Quit
Get back up and fight. Don’t focus on the negatives and what has gone wrong. Rebuke the spirit that makes you feel that everything is hopeless. “…and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance…” Ephesians 6:17-18
“More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.” Romans 5:3-5
Endure Hardship as Discipline:
“Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as his children. For what children are not disciplined by their father? If you are not disciplined—and everyone undergoes discipline—then you are not legitimate, not true sons and daughters at all. Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined us and we respected them for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of spirits and live! They disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, in order that we may share in his holiness. No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it. Therefore, strengthen your feeble arms and weak knees. “Make level paths for your feet,” so that the lame may not be disabled, but rather healed.” Hebrews 12:7-13
11. Grow Spiritual Muscles
God wants to strengthen our ability to believe what the Bible says about him during hard times! All major characters in the Bible had to stand in faith and WAIT for a promise from God. During the wait, try to avoid believing in false theology and human logic like the Israelites did in the desert.
Someone once told me that I shouldn’t fully trust what I heard God saying because there is so much room to be wrong. And they said, I should do what I want and let God stop me if I’m wrong. There might have been wisdom in their speech, but they were basically telling me not trust God.
If we are truly open to God’s correction then there is NO risk in trusting because He will direct us. But the key here is to SEEK wise counsel and learn to discern the voice of God because you don’t want to stand in faith for something you want, but God NEVER promised. Even if you’re standing for something God didn’t promise, seeking God’s will makes us stronger and helps us to understand what God is saying about each situation.
"For you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness." James 1:3
12. Receive God’s Peace
While you wait, God wants you to have peace! Peace is a biblical promises that God wants all his children to experience. Remember, God doesn’t break his promises! “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7

13. Wait on God
God is working as fast as he can and he isn’t withholding any good thing from you while you wait! But there are more details to accomplish His plan, and you won’t be able to fully understand till all the puzzle pieces come together and make a beautiful picture. “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:9 For more information on the waiting process, read the 6 ways waiting prepares you for greatness and/or holiness!
"But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing." James 1:4 KJV
14. Rest in God
When you grow tired of waiting, God will renew your strength. “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” (Matthew 11:28)
While you wait, you should pray, read the Word, and refrain from fear. Learn to live in God’s peace. Remember, you are doing all of this to love God and trust Him more. You are not working hard to get Him to do what you want.
And when you’ve done everything you can to have strong faith, mimic Paul and continue standing: “Therefore, put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.” (Ephesians 6:13)
At the end of your journey, you will develop unwavering faith: “Then we will no longer be infants, tossed about by the waves and carried around by every wind of teaching and by the clever cunning of men in their deceitful scheming.” (Ephesians 4:14)

Abraham’s Bible Story of Standing Firm in Faith
In his older age and with his barren wife Sarah, God told Abraham that he would produce a son. God still gives clear direction to those who seek it. Even if you haven’t experienced such clear direction from God individually, know that He gives very clear promises and blessings to EVERYONE in the Bible.
Standing firm in faith and trusting God’s promises
Abraham was counted righteous because he understood the importance of standing firm in his beliefs. He “did not weaken in faith when he considered his own body, which was as good as dead (since he was about a hundred years old), or when he considered the barrenness of Sarah’s womb. No unbelief made him waver concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong in his faith as he gave glory to God, fully convinced that God was able to do what he had promised. That is why his faith was “counted to him as righteousness.” But the words “it was counted to him” were not written for his sake alone, but for ours also. It will be counted to us who believe in him who raised from the dead Jesus our Lord, who was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification.” (Romans 4:19-25)
You don’t have to do anything to earn God’s love or for him to answer your prayer. Just sit tight, keep reading and training your mind to know that God loves you and wants to work everything out for your good. However, sometimes His plans seem slow which can cause us to see God as unkind and unloving to the human mind. But wait for it, he is the masterpiece builder. He puts EVERYTHING together and desires to save every soul.
Remember, Abraham: “did not weaken in faith when he considered his own body, which was as good as dead (since he was about a hundred years old), or when he considered the barrenness of Sarah’s womb. It will be counted to us who believe in him who raised from the dead Jesus our Lord, who was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification.” Romans 4:19-25
